Marine aquariums rely on beneficial bacteria living in the filter, substrate, and rocks to remove the harmful ammonia that fish produce. In their absence, levels would rise quickly and prove fatal to most aquarium inhabitants. These bacteria take time to develop, and traditionally in new aquariums the addition of fish has to be done slowly to prevent sudden increases in dangerous waste products. Tetra Marine SafeStart adds the correct mix of marine bacteria to the aquarium, to speed up their development, allowing the safe introduction of fish. With SafeStart, ammonia levels are reduced, and the aquarium can be stocked in less time.
